New Crypto Sportsbook Scam Appears; Sportsbet Sponsors Watford FC

While Bitcoin betting platforms have definitely come a long way, there are still sites out there trying to scam users out of their money. One such platform was recently spotted online as people familiar with its owners uncovered ties with several scam sites that were blacklisted for stealing punters’ money. If you’re not planning on parting ways with your precious coins anytime soon, keep reading to learn all about this shady “crypto sportsbook”.

Won’t Get Fooled Again

As reported by Calvin Ayre, a new Bitcoin betting site called Top Notch Odds was spotted online and it should definitely be avoided. Reportedly, the site holds ties to a well-known Costa Rican fraudster in the crypto betting sector who was behind several platforms that were infamously shut down after running away with the money of their members.

According to the available information, the new site’s story dates back to a once popular platform called BetMayor, which became notorious for stealing user funds. After the scandalous reveal of that sportsbook, a new site called WagerWin appeared to replace it, surviving only for four months, only to be followed by the Wager506 and Wager305 sites afterwards. The one thing tying all these platforms together was Costa Rican resident Rodrigo Castro.

Earlier in the month, Castro went to Twitter to promote Top Notch Odds as a “real Vegas style betting” site from Costa Rica with “no BS” and “no runarounds”.  Since it’s a marked scammer promoting the platform, it’s advised that you don’t risk your money playing there. No matter how many player perks the site offers, the history of Castro’s scams outweighs any possible benefits that could be gained from Top Notch Odds.

Sportsbet Enters Premier League Partnership

At the other hand of the spectrum, you have BTC sportsbooks which are working extremely hard to add positive publicity to the industry and make it a much better place. One of those operators is Sportsbet, which recently entered a new sponsorship deal with Hertfordshire Premier League team Watford FC.  The partnership, which was reportedly worth £20 million, will last for three years starting with the current season and see the shirts of the Hornets marked with the Sportsbet logo.

As representatives from the club revealed, this is the biggest sponsorship the team has received in its entire history. So it’s not only a milestone for Sportsbet, but also for Watford FC. To show its dedication to the club, the bookmaker has changed the colors of its logo to yellow and black in order to match the color scheme of the shirts, but it has also outlined a number of exclusive promotions that will mark the partnership.

According to Sportsbet, there will be several special offers created during the 2019/20 Premier League, including weekly jersey and free bet giveaways at the bookmaker but also trips to the Hornets’ matches at Vicarage Road Stadium. Branded slot machines and live dealer games will also be created to promote both the bookmaker and the club.
